Available courses

This course equips students with foundational knowledge of concrete as a key construction material. It explores the properties, composition, and behavior of concrete, emphasizing its role in building and civil engineering works. Students learn about the basic ingredients  which are cement, aggregates, water and admixtures and how their proportions influence strength, durability, and workability.

The course covers essential processes including batching, mixing, placing, compaction, curing, and quality control of concrete. Learners are introduced to standard tests for fresh and hardened concrete, such as slump tests and compressive strength tests. Basic mix design principles are also discussed to help students understand how to achieve desired performance.

Practical sessions complement theory, allowing students to handle materials, conduct tests, and observe concrete behavior in real conditions. By the end of the course, students will be able to identify suitable materials, follow proper procedures in concrete production, and appreciate the importance of quality control in construction projects.
